The Basics..

Students were introduced to the topic of natural disasters with an overview of Tectonic Plates and how they move.

Using a handheld 3D model of the Earth, students could visualise the tectonic plate boudaries. Manipulating the model, each student could follow the plate boundaries across the globe, along with their corresponding volcanic 'hot spots'.

We then discussed the resulting natural events that could be caused by tectonic plate movement such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
