Focus: Planets in our solar system (movements, sizes, distance from the Sun) and space exploration (telescopes, rovers, satellites & the International Space Station).
Grade: 2 - 10
Duration: 1 hour
Max Numbers: 30 students per session
Lesson Highlights: We start by duscussing The Sun - the center of our solar system, then we venture outwards, flying through space identifying planets, observing & discussing their features.
We then take a short break from the VR goggles and discuss as a group how the planets themselves move, spin and orbit. We compare a day and a year on Earth to those on Neptune. We then use a 3D holographic model to get a visualisation of what this looks like.
Our last adventure of the day, looks at space exploration. How humans from various countries have engineered machines to collect data, pictures and send information back to Earth to help us learn more. Students then have to chance to explore the ISS! (well, a replica anyway!) Looking for clues on how astronauts live there and how they undertake important research.
As always, time permitting, students will have some 'Space Appreciation' time at the end, with some free choice videos.
