Space Station Creation

Picture
Overview
Focus: Features of the Moon, creating a base station or an exploration vehicle for exploring the surface of the Moon.

Grade: 6 - 10

Duration: 1 hour

Max Numbers: 30 students per session

Lesson Highlights:

This STEAM style lesson requires students to think about what is required when exploring in space.

Students will discover facts about the Moon's surface and environment & we discuss exactly what 'The Moon' is and why it's important.

Each student can then choose between creating a lunar base station OR an exploration vehicle. They must consider what equipment is needed, what environmental factors must be accounted for and what their mission aim is.

As always, time permitting, students will have some 'space appreciation' time at the end, with some free choice videos and the chance to
explore the ISS! Looking for clues on how astronauts live there and how they undertake important research in space.
