Focus: Food webs, feeding relationships, human impacts
Grade: 4
Duration: 1 hour
Max Numbers: 30 students per session
Lesson Highlights: How do food webs work? And why are they so complicated?
Using our 3D holocubes we look at the organisms that belong to the different trophic levels within a food web such as Producers, Consumers etc.
As a group, we discuss how feeding relationships within an ecosystem can be shown as a food web, which in turn shows us the importance of each species.
We also name the different trophic levels and explore an interactive scene where we identify different components of a food web, such as Primary Producers, Primary Consumers etc.
We conclude with a discussion about human impacts on ecosystems and how food webs could be affected.
As always, time permitting, we allow for some 'nature appreciation' time at the end of the lesson with some free choice VR videos.
